Downtime
«

As you all are aware, we suffered over 24 hours of downtime yesterday. I had been aware of a routine upgrade to the system but the time was such that I did not feel the need to warn you all of the downtime. It was supposed to have been 1-4 hours in the middle of the night.
The upgrade was to the OS, and the techs who did it were apparently inept. They, instead of following the instructions to upgrade OS and then restore the data, replaced the entire drive with a clean one with the new OS but made no effort to restore data.
This was discovered around 7am EST yesterday.
When the attempt was made to return all data and such to working order, it was discovered that one of the backups of system settings had failed thus rendering data and databases useless until we were able to resolve the issue. This is where my hands were tied and I was unable to help. My friend who manages my hosting setup also had to wait on the host's techs to make it happen. This took over 15 hours for some reason.
I apologize to everyone for the downtime. If you sent me any emails during the time they bounced, and I did not receive them.

I thought that my newest idea was so good that it fried the system. Its good to know that it wasn't my fault.
