With the influx of new people and the lively discussions we've got going right now, I think it's time to institute some recognition for our members. So every week we'll be voting for a member of the week. Either a person who is the most helpful, most insightful, etc. They don't have to be someone who posts in every thread, sometimes the wisest words come from those who speak the less (not always.) Voting will be open until I close it for that week, so if I'm traveling or have family in town I may let it run a few days long. I will do my best to close it on time.

1) Weeks start on Sunday

Prizes:
1) Avatar if they don't have one
OR
2) The ability to banish a smiley if one annoys them
OR
3) The ability to add a smiley if they feel we're missing one
OR
4) The ability to bestow an avatar upon someone else they feel deserves it
OR
5) They may propose something as a prize and I'll see if I feel it is fair or needs to be negotiated.

Now, with all of that said, here's how it works. Reply to this thread with the person's board name that you feel deserves to be the FIRST Member of the week! Please bold their name, nothing more, nothing less.

One vote per person per week. If you're going to change your vote please modify your earlier vote to remove it, and then post a new vote.

PS, this is going to end no earlier than Saturday April 26th 11:59:59pm EST

This honor definitely belongs to ImAChampion.  He is easily one of the two most knowledgeable people that posts frequently and contributes to the development of this website's community.  I think I would go so far as to say he is Member of the Year.

Off topic, I also find it pretty hilarious that avatars are some sort of reward for achieving ??? (possibly post count?).  It's kind of like receiving a golden star in the first grade.  No one cares about it, yet it is apparently some sort of reward.  If you want to cater to a mature audience on your board, you shouldn't go about treating them like little children and attract them with sweet or shiny things...want a candy bar?

Fair point, and it's been discussed before. But no one is being treated like a kid here, it is simply a way of offering recognition to more senior members (usually) and those who have helped the show in some manner.

I could go the way of other big forums which want to cover costs and begin charging for the forums, or asking for monthly donations to earn these things, but no one wants that. I think we can all agree on that.

I'm sorry if you see the avatar as a gold star.

With that said I'll just say that this thread closes tonight at sometime, so get your votes in!

My vote goes out to Johnny Magic. He really knows his stuff...and when he posts in your thread you should listen to what he has to say because its probably some of the best advice you will get.

This one goes to champ - hands down.  The things he's posted has really helped me get back into the swing of things since I picked the game back up in Feb.

Done and done, Champ gets the first member of the week! I'll be opening a new thread for the next round of Member of the week.
