hmm I went for my very first pre-release last weekend. Now I am not new to magic but I stopped playing around Stronghold and have only just got back into it. I went down to the local card store for the prerelease and there was maybe 10 people for it. 6 of them were all friends who obviously play together all the time and my god, they made the event so terrible, such a horrible experience for everyone else it was depressing. They did not try to have a go at me once I saw what was happening so I made the effort to publicly humliate the worst offender to get his friends to laugh at him, but as far as they saw the other three guys were open season.

They were the type of players who always play in this store and are really the only ones so they think they are fantastic at magic and constantly insulting and berating everyone else. It turned something I was really looking forward to into something that I walked out of with a bad taste in my mouth. Its a game, since when do people need to valiadate their worth and existance by how good they percieve themselves to be in it?

So GodofRoads... maybe we go to the same store as your story sounded all too familiar.. ;/
