This is a card I made online:

I just recently got into MTG, just before Shadowmoor was released. I purchased a Mortal Coil starter deck (a black/blue hybrid deck). Since then I've saved up quaters and bought boosters as often as I could, and completely changed the deck around. Any input, advice, suggestions, or comments are greatly appreciated. I am a casual player, so I just want something to be more competitive against friends. Thanks!

I call my deck "Bruises" because its aim is to turn my opponents black and blue. The idea of the deck is to get creatures that are unblockable, so as to attack the opponent directly. This of course leaves me open to attack so I put in a lot of removal spells, and the Wingrattle Scarecrow with persist to hold off my enemies until I get get out the Inkfathom Infiltrator and swing all of my unblockable creatures for four damage each. Click on link for the card.

How about you try this, The Mulldrifter's are very good cards when you evoke them, 2 cards for 3 mana is nice, the tortures and torpor dusts aren't necessarily removal but they will really tie down creatures.

I stayed true to your original theme but I think I improved it, try this version out and see which works better.

Creatures - 25
Wasp Lancer 4
Wingrattle Scarecrow 4
Inkfathom Witch 3
Gravelgill Duo 3
Briarberry Cohort 2
Crowd of Cinders 2
Dimir House Guard 1
Inkfathom Infiltrator 1
Dimir Infiltrator 1
Scuttlemutt 1
Mulldrifter 2
Ghastlord of Fugue 1

Non-Creatures - 15
Biting Tether 2
Incremental Blight 2
Eyeblight's Ending 2
Helm of the Ghastlord 2
Necromancer's Magemark 1
Fear 1
Curse of Chains 1
Torpor Dust 2
Torture 2

Lands - 20
Island 9
Swamp 11

Hope that helps and welcome to the community.

Thanks for welcoming me to the site, just one question, why no faerie swarms? (i know fear is better than flying usually), but that card has been invaluable before.

I did not include the Fairy swarms because you have 2 blue cohorts in there which are nice 2/2 fliers for 1U. Also you have a greater black permanent ratio to blue permanents so the crowd of cinders makes more sense to run. I don't think your deck will lose much with the faerie swarms absent but hell it's your deck so if you think they'll work better in it, then go for it.

Welcome to the forums. I always say "kool", when someone makes thier attempt at making thier own magic cards. So tips for the forums here. Instead of providing links to the card as you did in you post, just highlight your card and click on the tiny magic card icon above your forum editor. and this is what happenes say for Fireball. BAM!, instant linking. If you're into making homade cards may I suggest a nice program called Magic Set Editor. Very easy to use. Just google it and a link will come up. Also if you play online, check out Puremtgo.com. There they have at monthly custom card contect. Winner will get a gift certificate to use a mtgotraders.com for online cards.

As for your deck, I would suggest an awesome card, Sygg, river cutthroat.

yeah, my friend just told me about that program 2 days ago. I saw everybody else had the links for their cards, and i was hoping i could get someone to explain that for me, but I admit i like the links i made, only because the info seems more organized. I'll definetly look for that Sygg tho, thanks for the suggestion.
