So, this may be blasphemous, but what are your hobbies outside of Magic? I know imachampion pumps iron, but that's the only one I know.

Myself, I watch a fair bit of tv, read and do web design (both as work and as fun) then on top of that I love improv comedy and am actually waiting to hear if I'll be able to join a local improv troupe. If so, I'll let you all know when you can come see me perform ;)

How about you guys?

Yep. Weightlifting is my main hobby. I am however a dork at heart. I am a huge fan of video games. Civilization III, WoW, Diablo II, Guitar Hero, Shandalar, and creating programs / spreadsheats in Excel pretty much occupy my free time.

I say free time...thats in between work, spending time with my wife, family, church, softball, and animals (Dog and Cat). After all that I nerd it up.

Lets also not forget the super-holy Sundays when football is on. Tampa Bay Bucs are my pride and joy.

Before kids came along, I used to play both console and PC games.  As noted elsewhere I also have collected comics off and on since I was 13.  I just recently quit again because they are getting way to expensive for what you get.  I think you get more bang for your buck with Manga, even if it is black and white.  I also love anime, but that has also been semi-sidelined until the kids get older, as most of the stuff I watch I don't think is age appropriate until they are about 13 or so.  More or less this is all stuff I just dabble in now and again when I get a chance now.

My main hobby now is music.  Well, I guess it's more than a hobby, since I've been playing guitar since I was 16.  I would consider myself a musician and probably good enough to have a band to regularly play in clubs and such.  Right now, I just play in church every Sunday.  We play mostly contemporary Christian music, more on the rock side.  So, our church is pretty rockin'.  I've never written any music, so that would be my next step I guess.

For any of you that play, that might be interest, here is my gear.
- 1985 Squire Strat, fire engine red.  Back in 1987, I replaced the stock pick-ups with Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge and neck positions and a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound in the middle position.  Exclusively use D'Addario EXL120 .09 strings.
-  Steinberger Spirit GU Deluxe, Honeyburst.  Somewhere between 1997 and 1999, not sure.  This is my main guitar now.  I uses whatever double ball strings I can get for this thing as they are harder to find than regular strings.  Usually, I end up with La Bella or Steinberger, though D'Addario has started making them, and I will most likely try.
-  2006 Ibanez Artwood AW100CE Acoustic.  Usually D'Addario EXP26 Phosphor Bronze strings.  I have tried DR's, and they were ok.  I've also tried Elixer, but I don't like those, because they feel like they are coated with mayonaise or something.
-  Digitech GNX3 effects processor.
-  Boss Super Chorus pedal.
-  Boss Turbo Overdrive pedal.
-  Original Crybaby Wah pedal.
-  Peavey 300 Watt Combo amp.  (Yes this is for bass, which I started on.  I just never sold it to get a guitar amp.  I am itching for one now though.)

If you have any questions about any of the above hobbies, please feel free to ask.   smiley

My friend who used to play magic started to play WoW. That's all he does now.  It's not a hobbie it's an addiction.

As for me, my other hobbies include web/graphic design, video shooting/editing, the internet, creative writing, cooking, finding a job after college, watching anime, and video games(WII, DS, X-box 360, & PS2).  Currently I'm learning Flash for a class project, so once I know how making Flash games will become a hobbie of mine.  Also I bought my wife a horroclix Cthulu as a gift a little while back so I've been planning to learn and play the clix system someday.

There are other hobbies besides Magic? nono

But really, my wife is a hobby that takes up more time and money than I could ever consider pondering! googly eyes But I'm pretty good at husbanding! 16 years kids! I should write a book!! When not husbanding, I like to read Fantasy novels (Salvatore, Wies/Hickman), I'm a big fan of Christian novelists Frank Peretii, Ted Dekker, I've read a few Steven King books but I'm not all crazy about everthing he writes. Every now and then I read political non-fiction and I am a big Glenn Beck fan! Love AM radio!! We just started at a new church in Depford NJ. young pastor and wife, young and diverse congregation and we have an amazing worship band! Wife and I like to play good boad games like Purto Rico, Carcasson, Settlers of Cattan, To Court the King, stuff like that. It helps if your best friend is a member of Mensa and an addicted game freak! over 1500 games in his house! Entire basement full of games, insane...But he's the one that gets me into new good games.

Thats pretty much it. headbang

^^ Oh wow, I have some family out there in Deptford.  It's a real quiet and kinda weird town but it's real laid back and nice.

Got a few hobbies.. Trying to learn how to DJ and produce music with the Ableton Live program, starting a vinyl collection (yes, it's a weird thing to say to people who are trying to get rid of their vinyl), big fan of spoken word poetry, very much a big fan of my Wii (new addiction is of course Brawl) and reading pointless trivia...most of which I don't remember.  Fun stuff.  Good times.

-Well I play the electric bass and am a big fan of black/death metal, but everything has its decent bands
-I like video games, but only a select few. I still play Super Smash Bros. for n64 haha and buy the new Madden each year only to realize that its no different from the last edition haha
-I also like to work out but haven't been able to for a while because I cut the tip of my thumb off in a meat slicer at work. I'm just cool like that haha
-I like to write poetry, but dislike reading other poetry.
-I enjoy the art of debating, especially with hot topics like religion, etc.
-I also like to draw and am expanding my skills in painting and with other various mediums lately.

good stuff

You know whats funny. I have only seen snow on 3 seperate occasions. Usually people talk about how much they hate snow.

I am a huge fan of old games. I have a sick addiction with Final Fantasy...the older ones. Up through FF8 on the PS1. The newer ones are just boring. I have every Final Fantasy game...from 1-XI. I hated the other one. I even have the Black and White games from the original gameboy.

I play a lot of Xbox 360 these days, my friend got me into Halo heh.

I play guitar (badly), write competitively (and have for several years), read a lot of books, and fish a lot amongst other things.

I really enjoy Magic as my main hobby. Most of my best friends have come about thanks to this game, and I'd like to think that isn't a coincidence. I mentioned writing before, and I spend a lot of time doing that. So much so that I decided to go back to college and try to attain a degree and education that can help put me on the path to writing professionally. (but dont expect grammar skills on the boards ;) you get what comes off my fingers most of the time haha!)

Currently, I am writing a few pieces, and I started one based on the Homelands set. I just feel like SOMEONE has to try and redeem it hah. Mostly I did it because it's a lesser known and I found some loopholes that link it to Time Spiral I wanted to write about.

Anyhow, thats my spiel for now. Adios!

I gave a brief list of other hobbies in my introduction article, but I'm super duper bored right now so I'll delve a bit deeper.  I have a strange fascination with getting really into things that most people pass over.

I have a deep love of British comedy.  When I say this most people think of Ab Fab and their eyes gloss over, but if you've not seen Spaced, Peep Show, the Office (the real one, though I do like the US version), Black Books, Little Britain then you've got no clue how awesome it is.

I do love video games.  My favorite by a mile is Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2.  Followed very closely by Zelda (all of them, with the exception of Zelda 2, the black sheep of the Zelda universe).  Rock band wins best party game.  I too enjoy the FF games, however I haven't played all of them and I tend to start them and never finish them (but man, I'll sink 8 hours a day for a week until I loose focus).  And, I waited 12 hours in line for a Wii...

My Sci-Fi love runs deep.  Star Trek was my first step down the path to true geekiness.  When I was 12 and most of my friends spent babysitting money on makeup and clothes, I spent mine on Star Trek novels and blockbuster rentals.  This is a trend that has only worsened with age.  Sevenofnine is a star trek reference and if you spell it with a zero it's also my Xbox360 gamer tag.  After several years of starting flame wars on the Prodigy BBS about how much worse Star Wars was than Star Trek, I actually saw the films and decided they were the shiznit.  Oh yeah, I've also been spending too much time on the internet since Prodigy.

I like to read, but I've not been doing it enough lately. Douglas Adams, Orson Scott Card and many more.

And that about sums it up!
