I can certainly agree that it is relatively powerful. It's no where near as good as old Control Magic or Treachery. This card kills 1/1 before you can attack or use them.

Cost - High
Benefit - removal/control

This is why I'd say it's a good card, but not something I thought was top 10 worthy.

Why are you stealing a 1/1 and not their best creature?

Throughout the entire episode you were saying how there aren't a lot of cards that just kill anything.  Well this does that and a whole lot more.

What I'm saying is, IF the best creature they have is a 1/1 then the cards is certainly not optimal. However, if this card is used to steal a Grim Poppet, then you're money.

I'm hoping you can see that there is a Pro and Con to the card. As we do NOT say our list is the list that ends all lists, we feel that we picked the 10 most beneficial during any or most situations.

If this card is in your top 10, then I'm sure both Trick and I would say it's certainly within your right to select it.

Top ten cards are usually stand alone cards, so I can see where they are coming from. If you're opponent only has 1/1's then it's a wasted card. And yes, I realize that I stated before that Kulrath Knight would greatly benefit from other 'wither' cards, but even alone it has an evasion and another awesome ability, so... But think of this as well, if you steal Dusk Urchins, the creature will die sooner (which could be beneficial for drawing purposes) but if all they have is a 2/2 or something like Wicker Warcrawler, where the creature is killing itself, again, it is a wasted card...

If all your opponent has are 1/1's you are probably winning.  Basically if there is no good target, you really shouldn't be worried about losing at that point under most circumstances.  It's the same with most cards, you can't argue that wrath of god is bad because if your opponent only has out a 2/2 then it's a wasted card.

Basically what you have is an argument against removal in general because they are only equal to your opponents best creature.

I realize it's impossible to make the perfect list of the top 10 cards (or anything for that matter), and I guess you could argue that it isn't the #3 uncommon, but I bet 100% of pro tour regulars will at least have this card in their top 10.

@Bigdaddyfatty, stand alone doesn't work.  They need to be taken within the context of the format.  Shatter in mirrodin block is 10x better than smash to smithereens in SSS.

You do make a good point.

However, I can confidently say that many of the "Pro Tour Regulars" I have spoken to, say this is not consistently game breaking. You will rarely hear me pull a "Florez" and say I created this or I know this random Pro, but I do spend time doing research.

Example, the 1/1 red flyer for 4cc isn't the worst creature ever and obviously can win you a game under certain circumstances. However, there are a myriad of better options.

On top of all this, I will NEVER say you are wrong for your opinion smiley

Thanks for having one!

I'd definitely say that Scuttlemutt is one of the better commons in the set.  Especially if you're playing something like g/w but you throw in a Runes of the Deus, you can turn the creature it's attached to r/g for the turn and do a lot of damage..

Also, Elsewhere Flask is great, maybe not top 10, but great.

Reknit is a MUST grab when the pack comes around.  It can regenerate ANYTHING!!!

My #1 would have to be Poison the Well, though.  Destroy a land AND two damage for four...?  I think that card is great.

I don't disagree that you should draft in context of format; esp. with Shadowmoor being -1/-1 counter heavy, but you do have to draft accordingly, and if nothing else you draft has anything to do with -1/-1 counters... But if all you have are 'wither' creatures, you're not going to damage your opp for the win if they can keep up with creatures in a creature heavy format. I do agree with you that if all your opp has is 1/1's then your winning, I like that!  laughing BTW - Wrath isn't in Shadowmoor for draft purposes (I'm a smartass btw...)  joker
