Here it is, our thoughts on Eventide. What do you think?

Good show guys, pretty accurate evaluation of Eventide.

I like what it did to Draft as now you can gamble with the enemy colors in the first 2 packs and try to snap up all the enemy hybrids in Eventide or draft the friendlies in the first 2 Sha packs and just pick up on color cards or hybrids or go the mono route (which has become my favorite method as of late) or maybe an almost mono with a splash or 2 even! So many options really.

Looking forward to seeing Lee's beaming face after his 2nd place finish! Next week I hope?

There's no video from Denver unfortunately. Next week we will hopefully kick off a 2 part sealed deck series. Unless Fay knocks out power down here, we'll see.

Almost forgot, you guys are in Orlando right? My mom in in St. Pete, she's not too worried. Level 1=meh. Call me when it's a level 3...that's when you start to worry.

Yeah I'm not terribly worried but there is always a chance that we'll lose power for a while. And given the render times my PC requires, I need Thursday to finish editing to allow for it to really keep on schedule.

Pretty good overview of the set. I really hope that WOTC learned that a 4 set block is a bad idea. This was a chaff set...with good cards. Does that make sense?

The only way that I have seen Helix Pennacle effectively used is in combination with Rings of Brighthearth. If you put in 5 mana to Helix Pennacle and then use Rings of Brighthearth...you will double the amount of counters put on it to 10. When you use all the Fog abilities in block...the deck can be quite fast. Then again...it scoops to Faeries.

Your overview kinda made be not want to go buy my first box of eventide, lol. Not to say Eventide has its strong points. I think I'll go with Lorwyn instead. You know those Garruk's an' all that.

The storage lands and Gilder Bairn together can get some crazy mana pumped into the Helix too.

Eventide has the best $$$. The non-friendly lands and some of the rares are pretty ok.

I kind of skipped over lorwyn and morningtide, so another reason i might as well catch up a little bit. Besides I can get Eventide through booster packs every couple of weeks or so, like I usually do, until Shards comes out.

iTunes is giving me a 404 error when I try to download it...

I can't really use the popup part while I'm at work, but I can usually watch it on my ipod on breaks...

Good calls:
-Retrace is [almost] broken... warping the limited formats to the point where 50-60 card decks are viable against control.  Don't laugh, i've seen it in action.
-Lieges
-Hedge-mages
-Helix Pinnacle and alt. win conditions don't work (unless your opponent forgets a pact)

Questionable calls:
-Evaluation of blue was lacking the mention of Banishing Knack which is EXTREMELY good.
-Red and black are NOT on the same level at all.  Strong removal in black still doesn't compare to the red archetypes and the removal packages they bring to the table.  Minus counters may shut off Scuzzback Marauders, but your head is still going to get kicked in by Giant Baiting next turn.  Red is so nuts right now.
-Red beats out white and you can see it at any draft table anywhere in the world.  Its a fact, red is cut-off hard and early.  The pros seem to agree.
-You guys forgot the most important cycle to effect limited - the Mimics.  These things are off the chains when coupled with their hybrid auras.  The more hybrids you can fill it up with, the crazier your deck gets because of your mimic inclusions.
-The new filter lands come in more powerful colors.

Overall, great job.  Looking forward to the next one.

Understand, however, that black now shares colors (ie Black-Green, Black-White).

If anything the pros agree that White is the best color in the current limited format.
