After two weeks off here's the episode, three games that come down to the wire. You'll have to see it to believe it!

From a post further in the thread:
Quote from: Trick
One note Lee pointed out to me: Despite the date this episode dropped, we recorded this several weeks ago such that it was actually filmed before the ruling clarification was announced. We had prefilmed all of August because we knew schedules wouldn't allow us a great deal of time. I take full responsibility for not staying on top of rulings as I was the one who edited this episode.

I've updated the front page with a warning to viewers, I will try to insert a note in the episodes themselves when I get home and we will address it in next week's episode as well.

Spitemare should die in a Spitemare vs. Spitemare duel. I was confused by that as well. Damage is dealt to the Spitemare and it dies to lethal damage...it then in turn deals that much damage to another target.

This would be an example of Lee and I misplaying a card. I thought it was redirecting the damage and thus not absorbing it rather than absorbing and responding.

Sorry guys :-/

The Spitemare thing was confusing. Other than that it was a good episode. The first game was an example of why I think the mimics in Eventide are rediculous. I've seen turn two Nightsky Mimic and then turn three two Edge of Divinity and the mimic is a 10/10 flier.... No skill at all is necessary in that case.

When Trick played Beckon Apparition in the first game he didn't put his 1/1 White/Black Spirit token into play.

Warning Game Play Error – Failure to Maintain Gamestate for Trick.
Warning Game Play Error – Missed Trigger for Lee.

I don't intend to drag the subject around; but the Spitemare mistake is indeed a very big one in my opinion. Specially if you guys are trying to teach new players how to play. You guys do a great job at trying to go through every step as carefully as possible but this sort of things should really be avoided. Anyways great episode, Trick's face when he plays the Thoughtweft Gambit is amazing. Classic Timmy face

Can't wait for leagues to open on MTGO III, since its the only format I've got the time to dedicate right now.

To Luchesi, sure it takes no skill, but its also hard to pull off in a limited format.

Another good job on an entertaining episode.

I would like to point out a few things I thought was mistakes (or not) and discuss them so we can all learn and improve.

Well the card rule mistakes in game one did not change the result of the game. I would rather question the decision to draw. If Lee opt to play, he might be able to mount a defense a lot sooner. We can see in game two when Lee opt to go first, it was a huge advantage.

The critical game 3 would have been won by Trick if he:
1. Deck building, as he clearly did not need the swamps. If swamps were mountain, Trick could have played 2 spells on turn 4 or 5 and won the game.
2. (like what Lee said) drop the 2/2 on turn 2.
3. Lastly the hotheaded with haste.
I belief the three "mistakes" combine, cause Trick to lose the "play first advantage" and lost game 3.

Therefore my point is, I have yet seen opting to draw is ever a good thing. Is there statistic showing that drawing is ever good?

@CharlieNeo, Not in recent sealed deck pools, it used to be when the format was slower and you had time to take full advantage of your extra card.

i think in game 1, not redirecting the dmg might have been the second worst mistake, lol, and i thought spitemare was only players as well, heh

but other than that, the espisode is great!

You know either way the Spitemare does his job. Trick, ahh, I thought you had toppled the giant. Better Luck Next Time, that's how I see it. The episode was very informing I didn't actually know that the coin flip said you have the choice to go first or draw. I just thought you go first if you won the flip. Thank you for going through the play by play when you did the Gambit.

Wow guys...Um...huh...

I gotta tell ya, i don't see how you guys misunderstood Spitemare. It doesn't say "redirect" anywhere on the card. It's dealt damage...oh heck, you know...

This tells me you guys don't play nearly enough Limited!  nono

Maybe not the vid we want to point people too...Look, I love you guys...but that was pretty bad.

Now get out there and get your draft on!!!!

Seriously, it a darn good thing you took 2nd at GP Denver Lee...I would never hear the end of it from my friends otherwise. They are a rough lot. I can hear it now: "Really? They didn't know how Spitemare worked? Really?"  laughing

Ninja edit after finishing episode:

Yea, and the Hothead...I guess we can't cry about not pulling mana but if you had the Mountains you could have gone off with the pinger+Intimidator+Hothead. It would have been epic!

OK, so, you guys need to draft at least twice a week from now on! ;)
