So...? Why are you hear? I don't mean this in a demeaning way, I truely want to know. Are you the type of person that shows up weekly to see the show and read the articles, or are you here for the community to share ideas and opinions? None of the answers are wrong, so feel free to answer honestly.

Yeah, I like both.  Event though I'm a more experience magic player, I feel you can never know enough so I enjoy reading the articles (especially the game reports hint hint) and watching the shows.  In addition, I enjoy the community, at least as it is right now.  Other magic sites have a very "juvenile" community.  This is a very nice community, and though we may not all agree on everything, no ones out there troll the message boards or starting flame wars.  That and we seem to have a nice mix of a player base.

Good to hear. I did a write up in my article on the front page. Trick said that that you tried to make it to the tournament this weekend...but you were unable to. Hopefully you will make the next one. It was pretty cool.

Community and site content is great.  I took a lengthy break from the game and this is the perfect place to get back into the swing of things.

Also cannot deny the oozing charisma of Trick and Lee.  Had to put it on the table.

All I'm oozing today is phlegm. Two days home from work with a nasty cough and congestion and MODO is down, curses.

So that mean that we can expect an unusually high amount of posts from you? thumb

I would like this to be a place where people can get better at magic. I do my best to help people that post problems...and I also try to give advice on decks. Feel free to ask anytime. If I can't answer your question...hopefully the rest of the community will pick up my slack. Thats my goal for this place.

You can always default to MWS.  sad

@champ - Definitely - I always feel like I learn so much more about the game and get better just by checking in here and learning from the different discussions.

I like the fact that most of the people here are locals. So most of the information comming from this site effects the metagame in my area the most.

And I always been a fan of Lee's  notworthy

I'm here because I enjoy Magic, and i really dont like a lot of other places where the threads devolve into "shut up u noob' comments. I decided to give MN a try because I saw a relatively small group starting up, and I think it has the basis to become one of the best sites on the internet. Why? Integrity. The guys who lead this place want it to be a place where new players can intermingle with salty vets and feel at home.

So far, so good.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but it's pretty obvious that the people who are going to vote "For the Show/Articles" are not even going to bother visiting or voting on the forums.  No one is going to say "For the Community" since that would imply the shows and articles are pretty lackluster.  This is going to be a very one sided vote.  If you wanted a more realistic statistic, you should look at the number of downloads the shows have per the number of people who have voted in this thread.  Subtract the show watchers from this thread's voters and you have the number of people who are here merely for the show/articles.  This thread should be a pretty good representation of the active members of the community since those who didn't even bother to vote in this thread are probably not active members of this community.

You also get the "shut up noob" comments on other sites since that is probably what you are as you obviously do not know why certain plays or cards are better than others.  In other words, you're not enough of a Magic geek.  Most importantly though, it is because you did not bother reading the thread or doing a forum search on the topic.  When people tell you to shut up it is because they are tired of answering the same question asked by different people on every other page of the thread when a simple forum search or even reading the last 2-3 pages of the thread would tell you the answer to your question.  No one likes ignorant or lazy people.

I can see where your comming from, but not everyone is as good as a player as the next. So people are going to make noob statements, or be lazy and not read the whole thread or any previouse threads. The whole point is (with any thread) to say something constructive. Even if its a "Hey we already covered this in another thread or earlier in this thread". Calling someone a noob is just lelittling someone and discuraging them from comming back. I myself have been frustrated with people making comments and not reading the whole thread or other threads that are related, but I find it's better for me to just keep my mouth shut. If you feel frustrated that you have answered time and time again the same question, simply don't answer. thumb

I made the thread for more of a why are you here type of deal. I also know for a fact that several people lurk and don't post. I am trying to get them involved. Other than that...your points are valid.

I am pretty sure that if people start shouting noob at everyone...that Trick would step in. I know I would voice my opinion in their direction.

This is another reason why I think we should seperate the forums. We need a seperation for Casual and Competitive.

Shouting n00b is inevitable, it comes with size.

Right now we're in the small rural town where we only need a part-time sheriff and a lock-up in the back of the general store. Eventually we'll begin knocking heads and enforcing order but until then I'm very laissez-faire (meaning hands off.)

The forum separation is coming smiley

I didn't mean that people were directing the quote at my Crum. I was speaking of a general mindset of ignorance.

It's not a terribly complicated concept.
