Good to hear. I did a write up in my article on the front page. Trick said that that you tried to make it to the tournament this weekend...but you were unable to. Hopefully you will make the next one. It was pretty cool.
Yeah, I would of liked to come, but 1) it’s a long drive for me and 2) I got to spend the weekend banging my head against my computer trying to figure out which “;” was in the wrong place and keeping my action scripts from working in my semester final Flash project. Pro-tip, rather than wasting four hours trying to figure out why something didn’t work when it apparently should, simply delete all of the bad sections and recreate them in two hours. I learned this in only seven hours. (The extra hour was for my weekends worth of sleep).
But yeah, as long as nothing comes up, I hope to be able to con my wife into letting me go to the next one.

Shouting n00b is inevitable, it comes with size.
Right now we're in the small rural town where we only need a part-time sheriff and a lock-up in the back of the general store. Eventually we'll begin knocking heads and enforcing order but until then I'm very laissez-faire (meaning hands off.)
The forum separation is coming
Yeah shouting "shut up noob" is bad there's nicer ways of saying someones too lazy and is restating an argument or something that was already talked about earlier in the thread. Bur you know what I really get tired of? On a certain site, not gonna say which, every time anyone ever talks positively about a creature card, like ten people post a reply saying, and I quote, "Yeah but it dies to (insert removal spell here) so it sucks." Then they steal my lunch money.....I don't like that site so much.
That being said, I noticed we already have a report to moderator button installed and whenever I post I see the little reminder that let's me know that trick can see my IP, so I think we have a good structure set up to deal with the inevitable flame wars that come with internet growth. (I assume you can IP Ban).
Also as a humours side note- the first time someone quoted me and wrote "QFT" I got really upset and yelled at them becuase I thought it stood for something else. I think you know what I thought.

I didn't mean that people were directing the quote at my Crum. I was speaking of a general mindset of ignorance.
It's not a terribly complicated concept.
I did not mean to imply that people were calling you a noob. I was trying to answer the question for everyone to read. Sorry if there was any sort of confusion.
As for everyone saying something along the lines of, "Well, people could be nicer..." There are always going to be jerks and ignorant people out there. You can't expect the world to always be sunshine and flowers. Especially on the internet. It will always be in your OWN best interest to not take these people so seriously, rather than trying to change the mindset of an entire Magic community.

Indeed, you are correct sir.
It's just nice that there is an environment that (for now) doesn't have these people running rampant in it. As Trick says, with size there comes a certain level of filtering in of a brand of individual. However, the atmosphere here is different to begin with. I think that helps a lot.
I've been playing Magic since around when Revised just came out. I wish there was a place back then that could have had leaders to tell me why boosters were good, why i shouldn't trade dual lands for piles of crap. I know that the learning curve was different then compared to now, but it took me years to learn what I can learn in a couple days here by asking the right people.
I guess thats a reason i came here as well. I like to be able to try and impart some knowledge, whatever I have amassed anyhow, to the people who are willing to listen and consider my opinion. On the whole, this community seems to have a lot of people like that in it, so it appeals to me.

The learning curve and the general understanding was greatly different. Game theory for Magic has progressed by leaps and bounds. I like to compare it to the "true" topics in school, science or even math. Thousands of years ago we had a generally basic understanding of it, and in the last 100 years we've made dramatic leaps forward in understanding and theory.
Well with Magic, we're moving forward at an ever increasing pace. People who are just getting into it are not fully aware of where the game used to be.
Imagine what would happen if
Necropotence
did return in this day and age. Just imagine it. That card, at its core, was pure unfiltered power and at the time we didn't really understand what we had then. We knew it was powerful and that it dominated, but I dare say that if it came back today it would wreck Magic. Why? Because we're so much better at wielding power as Magic players.

@MN Nick,
I started in Revised too. Can you imagine if we knew then what we know now? The first World's event winner had a deck that...by today's standards...sucked. We used to play with
Gaea's Liege
as our bomb win condition. 500 Card decks with every color and a fist full of mana just thrown in. Now that is casual gaming.

Close, since they said it after quoting me i thought negativly and thought they were saying "Quit F;ing Talking". Now I know it means "Quoted For Truth". This was a good lesson in leet speak for me.

@MN Nick,

Gaea's Liege
as our bomb win condition. 500 Card decks with every color and a fist full of mana just thrown in. Now that is casual gaming.
My friend and playtest partner is usually the recipient of my "old timer" stories as he calls them. He has only been playing since around Kamigawa/Mirrodin era, so he doesnt understand what it was like to face the old style decks. He keeps saying things like 'they should reprint
Lightning Bolt
(not seriously) and I keep saying he needs to shut up.
Trick, I played against Necro many times, and yeah i know exactly what you mean. The first tournament I ever played in was hosted at my friends house, and we had about 25 players. I played a green
Thallid
generator deck and didn't fare well. I also recall building the first primitive "white weenie" deck in our whole group. A few months later it became one of the first "net decks", and people gave me crap for playing a deck i got out of a magazine.
Every time i think of that era, i still breathe a sigh of relief on the first turn when i dont drop a card because i know
Dark Ritual
isn't coming to jam something nasty at me.
It's so strange how much we've all changed since then, and yet we were all so similar back then. Champ brought up Leige, and I distinctly remember games with probably 60-80 creatures per side out at a time. Keldon Marauders hit the board and all hell broke loose.
It was a good time.

I tried but it won't let me. Sorry.
@MN Nick,
I have long said that
Lightning Bolt
could be reprinted...as a sorcery. As an instant it is just too strong. It would also have to be uncommon so that limited wouldn't get out of hand.

But it's so much weaker as a Sorcery... :(

Thats the only way that it could ever see print though...and surprisingly its the only version of
Lightning Bolt
that they have never printed. I know that my Legacy burn deck would welcome this addition.
Shard Volley
proves that
Lightning Bolt
as an instant is just to good. People are willing to sacrfice a land to play
Lightning Bolt
. Don't get me wrong...at sorcery speed...it would still be one of the strongest burn spells that we have gotten in a long long time.
