So lets say I play lash out and we clash then I clash a Dead//Gone. What would be the CC of that card?

The converted mana cost is the total cost of the card...4. The same is true for cards like
Dark Confidant
.

Actually, the converted mana cost of
Dead/Gone
is 1 and 3, not 4.
If you reveal Dead/Gone for a clash and your opponent reveals
Mana Leak
you win and lose the clash because of the 2 separate answers the game gets when it asks your card what its CMC is.
The reason you lose 4 for
Dark Confidant
is because you lose 1 and 3.

...umm...I hate to argue with a judge but...are you sure? This same senerio would affect
Counterbalance
.

Yes Erik is correct. I'll post some pertinent information below using my favorite feature on this forum!
If an effect performs a comparison involving multiple characteristics of one or more split cards in any zone other than the stack, each characteristic is compared separately. If each of the individual comparisons would return a “yes” answer, the whole comparison returns a “yes” answer.
Example: Void reads, “Choose a number. Destroy all artifacts and creatures with converted mana cost equal to that number. Then target player reveals his or her hand and discards all nonland cards with converted mana cost equal to the number.” If a player plays Void and chooses 1, his or her opponent would discard Assault/Battery because the game sees its converted mana cost as “1, and 4.” The same is true if the player chooses 4. If the player chooses 5, however, Assault/Battery would be unaffected.
So in the case of
Counterbalance
If you reveal a
Dead/Gone
it would counter a spell with CMC of 1 OR 3. It would NOT counter a spell with CMC of 4.
In the case of
Lash Out
you would win but so would your opponent.
Lash Out
would resolve the "if you win" portion of it's text. If your opponent had a
Sylvan Echoes
in play he would be able to draw a card also.
Explaining the CMC in regards to split cards and how the game asks it questions is sort of difficult to put into words in my opinion. It's very similar to explaining dependancies (which i'm still horrible at)

Wow. I stand corrected then. I apologize. I must admit that I have played that wrong on several occasions. There have been several
Fire / Ice
s that have slipped through the
Counterbalance
crack.
Thanks for the info guys.
