Hi all,

I have a few more questions I hope you can help with:

1.  If I sacrifice Seething Pathblazer (which has an enchantment on it) to bring in Nova Chaser, will pathblazer retain the enchantment when it returns?

2.  Can someone please clarify double strike.  If I had a 2 / 2 creature with double strike and faced a 4 / 4, would my 2 / 2 survive?

3.  If I cast overgrowth on to a forest, when I tap said forest, will 3 green mana be added to my mana pool?  Or is it just 1 plus the extra one.  After reading the card a few times I am confuesd smiley

Thanks in advance,

RS.

Hi all,

I have a few more questions I hope you can help with:

1.  If I sacrifice Seething Pathblazer (which has an enchantment on it) to bring in Nova Chaser, will pathblazer retain the enchantment when it returns?
If Seething Pathblazer is enchanted when it is championed...the enchantment will be put into the graveyard when Seething Pathblazer is championed. If and when Seething Pathblazer is brought back into play...it will not have the enchantment attached to it.

2.  Can someone please clarify double strike.  If I had a 2 / 2 creature with double strike and faced a 4 / 4, would my 2 / 2 survive?
When combat damage is being recieved...There is a first strike damage step. This is when creatures with either First Strike or Double Strike deal damage. After that there is a regular damage step. If your creature has double strike...it will also deal damage during the regular damage step.

3.  If I cast overgrowth on to a forest, when I tap said forest, will 3 green mana be added to my mana pool?  Or is it just 1 plus the extra one.  After reading the card a few times I am confuesd smiley

Thanks in advance,

RS.
When you tap the forest you will add (g) to your mana pool because thats what happens when you tap a Forest for mana. Overgrowth then adds (gg) to your manapool. This gives you a total of (ggg) when you tap a Forest enchanted with Overgrowth.

Does this all make sense?

You dont sacrifice it, you remove it from the game, then it returns to play when the champion (its the champion that would be sacrificed IF you dont remove a creature you control)

I'm pretty sure if you put a creature in the graveyard, then it in the graveyard, and when the champion leaves play it bring back from out side the game not the graveyard.

The Pathblazer is removed from the game but the enchantment can't survive without it's target. So the enchanment will be discarded.

I don't think anyone answered the question decisively, they did quote MTG Law though :-) These are my answers based on what I understand of the rules:

Quote
1.  If I sacrifice Seething Pathblazer (which has an enchantment on it) to bring in Nova Chaser, will pathblazer retain the enchantment when it returns?
No, as sp00kzZ said the Seething Pathblazer leaves play. This would cause the enchantment to no longer have a target and thus sent to the graveyard.

2.  Can someone please clarify double strike.  If I had a 2 / 2 creature with double strike and faced a 4 / 4, would my 2 / 2 survive?
It would not survive. As Champ said, there is a First Strike phase. Your damage calculation phase would play out like so:
First Strike Phase: Your Double Strike 2/2 would hit the 4/4 for 2 damage.
Standard Damage Phase: Your 2/2 does 2 more damage, the 4/4 does 4 damage.
Result: Both creatures die.

Hi all,

Many thanks for the replies.

Looks like we were playing the overgrowth incorrectly, by just allowing GG as opposed to GGG.
Now after reading your replies I suppose if we looked at the card from the point of view of casting it on a mountain we may have relised that we would not only get GG, but RGG.  Not that I can think of any reason why you would want to play this on anything but a forest.

Thanks again,

RS.

Why not play it on a mountain? If you have 2 mountains in play and one forest, that regrowth could go on any land. Supposed you wanted to used the ability on Heartwood Giant or Orcish Lumberjack but wanted to keep your Overgrowth. Really depends on your deck. Glad we could be of help though. :-)
